Happy Thanksgiving

To help celebrate Thanksgiving, we added a Turkey on the Table to our family traditions.  The kids named him Fredrick though none of us could remember his name.  He was called Fernando or Rodrigo often.  Of all my children, Micah was the one who remembered his name when it got really confusing.  Each day we would take a feather and write down what we were thankful for... some were funny, some silly, and some expected.  The action made us each pause for a moment to go through all the things we are grateful for and often overlook.

The week of Thanksgiving I was on service which meant not making major plans.  My good friend Kerry invited me over for dinner with her family that evening followed by other friends joining later.
Once off service Thanksgiving night, I flew back to the farm to spend time with my family.  The kids were at their father's for this holiday which was a blessing with travel as the airports were packed and crazy.  Saturday morning the ladies headed to the Odell Craft Fair which holds many childhood memories.  Though far from the glory of the old days, this was still a fun event to meander about shopping and running into old acquaintances.  After returning home, dad and I headed to a Nebraska Husker basketball game.  I envisioned what my children would be doing.... Micah would be into the game, Izzy the pep band, and Victoria the dancers.  And I wasn't too far off as this is what they asked about when I mentioned going to the game with Opa.  The following day I went shopping with Oma for some retail therapy before returning to Boston.  A short and sweet trip but one I'm thankful for making.

On the drive back, this was the sunset that greeted us.  Midwest sunsets are beautiful but may be taken for granted when you can't see them anymore.
