Lessons learned from the pandemic include finding creative ways to celebrate special occasions such as birthdays. This has also been an opportune time to rethink how we want those celebrations to be like in the future. We have opted for a more low key approach which has been equally as fun and memorable. Victoria's request was to have a super slime party. As with past years, many of her friends are away on last minute vacations or getaways before school resumes. That didn't seem to phase her one bit since one of her best friends, Sophie Ann, was able to join.
A bit of scouring the internet lead to slime kits complete with everything needed for wonderful, gooey creations. There were a few themes to choose from with Victoria settling on Galaxy, Unicorn (of course), and Fluffy slime kits.
A few of the results. One of my favorites was the glow in the dark slime (not pictured). As one can imagine, things got more and more out of hand with the additions provided. Nonetheless, the girls had fun and were very creative.
Victoria requested a butterfly cake with the only specification of being colorful. Using two circular cakes, this butterfly came to life with colored gel and a rainbow twisted lollipop. This was the first time I made homemade buttercream. I definitely need to find clear vanilla extract next time. But I am never going back... YUMMY!
