Legoland Celebration

Micah couldn't be more different from Victoria in many ways.  How he wanted to celebrate his birthday was with one good friend doing something they both love.... Legos.  We are lucky to have a Legoland close by for an evening adventure.
First up.... shooting a variety of bad guys with laser guns.  We were all surprised to see Victoria was the high scorer making her walk away proud as a peacock.
The Harry Potter ride also ranked high on the favorites list.  The kids always love the ability to control going up and down by pedaling.  For those who can't reach well, this might be more disappointing.

The boys were continuously drawn to the build your own car area.  Once a prototype was completed, it was off to the racing ramp to see who finished first.  Many lessons were learned including how tire size, weight, and tire width affected speed.  Then there was the challenge of finding enough of the same parts!

Izzy and I chose the same tire size.  Ultimately it came down to the width of the tires.  Izzy's ended up taking turns when going fast because they were so close.

A special treat and the highlight of the evening was the virtual ride.  It was truly amazing to be able to look around (even behind us) and see a whole world.  Micah started to feel a bit sick to his stomach as this virtual ride was a race with the course bombarded by all sorts of obstacles; flooding, rock slides, run away cars, etc
I enjoyed the area of Heartlake City which was much more to the girls liking as well.  Victoria discovered karaoke which lead to any number of duets between the three of us.

Once home, we finished our celebration with a cake.  Micah had asked for a football cake.  We found a cake pan at the library which was meant to create a free standing football trophy.  I discovered though that the weight of the football was a bit too much which lead to breakage.  On it's side it went which didn't bother Micah one bit.  With the help of Izzy for decorating (homemade chocolate buttercream frosting... yum!), this football cake was a hit.
