Summer Vacation in Nebraska

Coming back to the farm for the county fair is always a summer highlight.  This year we decided to also include vacation activities.  One of my favorite fast food places that can only be found in Nebraska is Amigos.  We made a bee line to this place once landing in Omaha before heading to the farm.
This little guy was caught by Opa which let the kids see him up close.  There's always something new to see or do on a farm.
A tradition when we are on the farm over the summer is taking the kids fishing.

A place we've always wanted to visit while back in Nebraska is the Strategic Air Command & Aerospace Museum.  The SR-71 Blackbird was an impressive entry display.

The kids were challenged with finding Opa's F-4 Phantom II.  They asked why this one did not have the shark mouth painted on it only to learn this one was a reconnaissance plane.

None of us had any idea of quite how large the B-52 Bomber was until up close.  Here the kids are standing inside the bomb bay.
Trying their hand at the bomber flight training simulator.

Open was a flight simulator.  The girls paired up while Micah & I went together.  In both scenarios, we were challenged with dog fighting.  We were close to having upset stomachs on both trials.

A family favorite while growing up on the farm was Rock Creek Station.  Seeing things first hand always puts learning into perspective.  Izzy was the most impacted by seeing the ruts from where the wagons cut through on their way to Oregon.

Summer = pool time.  They Wymore pool is the favorite for the twins since they are able to access most everything.  If the cousins were here, they would likely prefer the Beatrice pool.  Each year the twins grow in their swimming abilities.

With the entire family together, we celebrated Diane's 43rd birthday at Stone Hollow Brewery in Beatrice followed by a game of Sevens.
