This calendar year, Micah and Victoria's birthday fell over a weekend they were with their father. Our more traditional way of celebrating had to thus be modified. With some most excellent weather, we too advantage and ate outside on a patio filled with music and a big screen TV to watch baseball. Micah was in heaven. It was fun seeing what each of them picked out for the other without any prompting or suggestions from their mother. And each was happy with what they received.
Victoria has an uncanny knack for giving names to all her beloved toys and other possessions. I'm amazed that she remembers them equally as easily. She had a puffer ball which she named Sally which unfortunately was doomed after a sustaining a leak. She was thrilled to have a new Sally which was a bit harder to locate than first anticipated.
Micah enjoys both Ninjago and Super Mario legos. He had one of the built before our food was served.
Ever since stopping at a comic book store to kill time while waiting for a table, Victoria has been fascinated with them. But not any comic will do. It has to be sparkly, cheerful, and girlie. Barbie fits that bill perfectly. What a flash back to growing up in the 80's and 90's.
While our family celebration may have been short and slightly different from past year, I am grateful we made memories nonetheless.
