With the turn of the calendar year, life continued marching forward as everyone expects it will. However, COVID-19 had change what we define normal life. Prior to social distancing and staying at home orders, our calendars continued to be packed. Here is what we were up to in the first several weeks of the calendar year.
Valentine's Day - We dined out at Wu Er as a family. This is an interesting restaurant... meat skewers and Chinese tapas in a back alley-style spot. Perfect for this herd.

The most memorable item on the menu was frog legs. As expected, Izzy was thrilled to add something new to her food repertoire.
Madi Gras - We have grown to love this pre-Easter season celebration. We all started the day off wearing the traditional green, gold, and purple colors. That evening we dined at The Shaking Crab... as close to crawfish as we can get.
The night ended with a homemade King Cake. Izzy found the baby this year. I guess she's hosting next year's celebration!
One of John's best qualities is his love of helping others. Attendings are requested to bring breakfast in on weekend/holidays when on service for residents. John helped create a waffle buffet. A hot, fresh breakfast is not often an option so this was a treat.
Izzy had her 5th grade band concert. We were in for a treat as I was not expecting to hear what they were able to play. Izzy has enjoyed this so much this year she wants to remain in band. I'm glad to hear this since originally she wanted nothing to do with band and preferred chorus.
Micah signed up for archery for a PSED enrichment class over the winter. They were given a handout regarding a tournament held locally for youth. Micah and his good friend, Collin, decided to give it a try. They were the youngest there and looked so small. But they tried their best and finished in solid places (certainly not last place either). He enjoyed this enough to want to take the next archery offering from PSED.
