Day #2's activity was a trip to Thomas Jefferson's home, Monticello. The home has been upgraded with a/c which provided a break from the exceptionally hot, humid day. Besides take a tour of the home, we also joined the Slavery at Monticello tour which was the adult's favorite experience of the day.
The kids enjoyed learning how to use a quill to write similar to how letters and the Deceleration of Independence was written in the 1770's.
The river was a built in activity this entire reunion. The cousins daily enjoyed swimming and frolicking at the edge. We spend a part of one afternoon tubing downstream from Allen's cabin to where we were staying. The cousins were also "brave" following Avery across the river to a long rock to explore. Swimming to and from was a bit challenging given the current. It helped that three adults were able to assist them across. None of us ventured back to that rock during this trip though Avery probably wanted to do so.
