Kid-less, I was invited to go sailing for Labor Day. This was something I have never done so jumped at the chance to go. Plus, it didn't hurt that the people I was going with are super fun! Of course one must entertain yourself on the drive to Maine which meant taking many pictures.
Almost there we stopped to eat lunch in Damariscotta. We sat right on the edge of the water and ate fresh Damarscotta oysters which came from only feet away. Yummy!
A view from my bedroom window. Amazing to wake up to this every morning.
Christmas Cove... only feet away from the cabin.
The Claire.
A beautiful boat. Not only was this an experience I don't think I'll get to do again, she was right up my alley being built of wooden and coming from a nostalgic time.
I think I could get use to this!
Can you believe they let me sail!
Amazing the physics behind sailing to go faster or slower. We were 'racing' this boat and of course, won.
Besides sailing, eating seafood was also done all weekend. This is a view from Shaw's.
Mark made me a fan for fried scallops... my mouth is watering now as I write this. Scallops, oysters, lobsters... all so good when they come straight from the ocean to your plate.
A final farewell.
A tradition I was told was to write a note to the next people who make their way to the cabin... The Playhouse. Instead of writing a note, Kerry and I sand a song. "Tell Him" was a running joke this weekend as Eric couldn't stand us singing it all the time. It worked well for a thank you song for Mark who hosted us this weekend.
We may not be the best signers but we do not lack in creativity!
What an amazing and fun weekend!
