The Children's Zoo

We spent a day at the Children's Zoo in Lincoln.  My grandparents took Diane and I there when we were little.  It's fun to go back with my kids.

 I'm stuck!
This was my favorite experience at the zoo.  You could feed the camels using tubing.  We would drop down a few nuggets and they would eat them.
Leo the Lion is still there asking to eat your paper / trash.  Micah & Izzy fed him.  Victoria hung back watching.

Micah liked it when the goats would nibble the nuggets out of his hand.
We met a 2 year old bobcat at one of the animal encounters.  He was beautiful.
The finally was riding the train.  Though it rained a bit at this point, it was till fun.
The end!

Summer Farm Fun

Summer fun on the farm includes:
Playing with the baby kittens.  Izzy named this one Dusty since he looked a bit dusty.
Feeding the animals.  It takes 2 to feed Lucy.
Don't let that face fool you... Victoria rarely went to the barn.  She preferred to stay near the house swinging calling out to us from up there.
Micah couldn't get enough of the farm.  He loved the tractors especially this one since it was also a 'digger'.  Opa even took him to the big dirt pile and let him 'dig' to his hearts delight.  Victoria joined in with the rocks.

Dress up time.  Good thing Oma & Opa kept our ballet costumes from 1980-something.  I think every grandchild has worn them at one point or another.
One of our last activities was to go fishing.  Izzy has been asking to do this for awhile.  Victoria was a bit under the weather so she stayed at home with Oma while Micah, Izzy, Opa and I went fishing at a neighbor's pond.  Micah caught 2 fish quickly.  Izzy was a bit bummed that she hadn't caught any at that point but had many nibbles.  Eventually she got 2 fish as well.  We would have had more but these fish were very tricky... they would just nibble the worms off the hooks quick enough to not get nabbed.

 I got a fish, finally!

What better to do on a summer day but water balloons and a water gun fight.  Micah got pretty good with his target being Opa.
The last day we were at the farm, I was able to meet up with Jess, my good friend from medical school.  We enjoyed walking around the Haymarket, shopping and eating some good food.

Pool Time

One of the favorite things to do when we go back to the farm is to visit the local pool.  Izzy of course loved it.  She has gained many swimming skills from camp which was evident.  Micah was fearless in the water.  I lost count of how many times he went down the big waterslide with me.  Definitely more than twenty.  Victoria spent most of her time right there in the shade under the lifeguard station.  Opa was successful in getting her to at least kneel in the water.

Enjoying a water cannon fight with Opa.

The BIG water slide!  Both Izzy & Micah's favorite.  This year Izzy was able to go by herself and not need someone at the bottom to catch her.  Great job!

Happy 4th of July!

We traveled back to the farm for the 4th of July this year.  Opa made sure we were all safe before lighting off fireworks.  The weather was amazing the whole time we were there allowing for a lot of summer fun on the farm.
We all really enjoyed throwing snap fireworks.
The famous Bures parachute contest.  Who can catch the most?
 Look at all of ours!
Izzy found a tiny friend while getting the fireworks set up.

Izzy really enjoyed the sparklers at the end.  The finale is typically the flag but it didn't fair so well in the end.
