Micah & Victoria's 1st B-day Party

This weekend we were able to celebrate Micah & Victoria's birthday with a few friends.  We had invited over Izzy's old friends, Leelah & Jonah.  They all now have younger siblings so there were 2 generations together to have some weekend fun.
I think this face says it all..... I love playing with my cake!
This is the face Victoria gave right before bursting out crying because big sister shoved my hand into the frosting.  Don't you know I HATE things that are wet or sticky!
It was so fun to watch Micah.  Izzy & Victoria were alike... not wanting anything to do with frosting.  He is my only baby who enjoyed his 1st birthday cake.

The older kids got cupcake which they were excited to eat as well.

Happy 1st Birthday Micah & Victoria!

We had a small celebration on the twins' actually birthday.  I picked up some cupcakes and Izzy picked out who got which one.  She also was the one who got to blow the candle out.  The twins were very different on how they approached their cupcakes.  Micah dived right in playing with the frosting but not eating one single bite.  Victoria, on the other hand, tipped hers over and picked at the cake part enjoying it very much.  She wanted nothing to do with the frosting.  She was pretty easy to to clean up.  Micah has frosting down his back though.

A rare family picture.  Even Izzy liked her cupcake... see the chocolate smile.

After bath time, we opened presents.  Or I should say Izzy opened them for the twins.  They enjoyed the boxes and bows as well.  But Micah really liked what Oma & Opa got them.  The bendable arms and legs of the giraffe & lamb make them fun to put in all sorts of position.

Here Kitty, Kitty, Kitty

For those of you that know me, Clay was my first pet and a loved one.  Since he died in May, we've been talking about the day when we get a new cat.  Izzy's preschool teacher volunteers at the local MSCPA and informed me of their annual cat-a-thon.  They try to adopt out at many cats as possible since they are overflowing and waive the adoption fee.  So I thought this was a good time and we all headed down there to make our selection.  The ladies there was so nice and spent about an hour going over who would make a good fit with 3 young kids around that make alot of noise and sudden movements.  Izzy got the final pick.

Meet Nala (yes, after the girl lion in The Lion King).  She is a 6 year old female who is very affectionate.  She's a bit shy and hid the whole time the twins were out.  But after they went to sleep, she came out and sat on Izzy's lap.  She purred and gave head-butts.  Izzy loved her.  She really wanted Nala to sleep in her bed but I think she's still getting use to the place.

Last night I had a dream about Clay.  I think he's talking to me.  I'm not sure if that means he's ok with Nala or is mad he has been replaced.  He was a funny temperamented cat.

LCSH Art Show

Evey summer Izzy's daycare has an art show.  This year it had to be postponed because of weather.  It typically is outside in the park.  But this year it had to be held inside.  Throughout the classes select artwork was displayed for each child.  They work on this throughout the year with each child picking out which pieces they want to show.
Izzy is standing in front of one of her pieces.  Can you pick it out... ha!  The title she gave it was 'Blowing Sun'.  It is to the right of her head with a black frame.

The babies are no exception to having art to display.  These always make me smile especially the ones that are made from hand and foot prints.
Getting ready for breakfast.  Victoria always has to be set away from Micah because she reaches over and takes his food.

Peach Picking Time

A group of parents and kids from Izzy's preschool headed out to a local farm for peach picking.  The weather was so lovely for this event.  We rode a train which drops you off at various locations to pick all sorts of fruit.  Only the peaches were ready.  Izzy and the twins are standing on the path for the train.  What I thought was interesting was what was providing us shade... grape vines.  I so wanted to jump up and grab a bunch of grapes and eat them then and there.
At the center of the farm is a play area for kids.  There was this caterpillar ride that the kids loved.  They had a hard time standing in line to wait their turn.

Music Mike also had a few show times that the kids enjoyed.  Even Micah & Victoria like the music but I think they liked snacking on some fruit better.  Especially Victoria.  There is nothing that that girl won't try.  She ate a whole container of blueberries that day.  You can imagine what I was cleaning up later that night :-)

Izzy really wanted to grab a few apple so we snuck some in.  Yes siree... those were tart!

What a great way to spend time with your friends!

Spontaneous Fun at Home

Unstructured time can be really enjoyable watching your kids come up with clever activities.  Micah has since decided he wants to stand every chance he can get.  The dishwasher seems to be the perfect height.  So often I let the door down for him.  Well Izzy decided this was the perfect makeshift drum set.  Micah and Victoria was so enamored by Izzy I was allowed enough time to get dinner ready.
When Izzy was a toddler, one of her favorite activities was to be pushed around in the laundry basket.  She hasn't change.  This time she has company but doesn't seem to be bothered by it.  They love it with many giggles from all three.  I just think to myself... why do I need a membership to a gym!

There are times when Izzy goes off into her room and closes her door.  I know she's up to something.  This time she came out all smiles.  I know she felt beautiful.

Izzy's 1st Movie

To get some one-on-one time with Izzy, I took her out to her very first movie.  We watched Turbo.  It was a very cute movie about a snail that wanted to be fast.  Izzy really enjoyed the night especially since dinner was a hot dog, popcorn, soda and some candy.  Thank you to a co-worked who stayed home with the twins while they slept so we could have some mom-daughter time.

Bathtime with Three

We've gotten into a routine of getting all 3 bathed at the same time.  This has been fun to watch as Izzy loves to interact with her brother and sister.  Now that they are able to sit unsupported, bath time has gotten more exciting.  Izzy can really get them going.  So now the rule is 'no splashing' until I'm able to get them all bathed and then close the shower curtain.  At this point all 3 of them can splash until their hearts content.  Super cute!
